Driving down the lane to Sycamore Creek Vineyards is the beginning of a visual journey. The driveway is flanked with with olive trees, and leads to the cool warehouse style tasting room. When you pull up, two auto charging stations are available. It's a modern day mix of contemporary finishes set in the middle of uninterrupted 180 degree bucolic views of the foothills.
Today I was joined by my sister-in-law, and our first couple of tastings were in the tasting room. From there, we took our tastings outside enjoying the wine and a picnic of cheese and salad, then meandered around the grounds.
Any wine jaunt that include a sparkling wine—methode Champenoise—is off to a good start in my book. Sycamore Creek also offers estate wines made on site such as, Cabernet, Petit Verdo, Malbec, and Evolution (a blend of all estate fruit.) Grapes are also sourced from Sonoma County, the Central Coast as well as their sister vineyard, Le'al Vineyards and Winery in Hollister.
The tasting room is spacious with barrels lining the walls and outside is a peaceful setting of more olive trees and seating areas. The perfect place to let your mind rest or wonder on a quiet day at the winery....or have a full-blown event with a gathering of friends.
Sycamore Creek Vineyards joined the Le'al hospitality portfolio in 2015, and has recently had a makeover. The venue offers a ceremony space, a center fountain, bocce ball courts, an outdoor wood-fired oven, and plenty of seating space to enjoy the spectacular views of the Uvas Valley, tucked along the edge of the Santa Cruz Mountains.
